After moving to Caid in 1986, THL Thorin got involved in the SCA as an Armorer, becoming partners in Thornbird Arms Armory. He served on his first Queen's Guard for Queen Alysandra. After the partnership broke-up, he continued to go to events and participate for awhile. Eventually the pressure from people being disappointed in the performance of his ex-partner and seeking satisfaction from him because his ex-partner was unattainable drove him to let the SCA take a backseat for some years only participating in Altavian events and wars.
After some years he returned to the SCA "full-time" by becoming involved with Griffin Freehold, a very service oriented household. With their gentle help, he finally realized that he got so much more from the SCA by giving back to it in service. He has since been on four Queen's Guards, become the Constable for Altavia, become a Youth Combat Marshall, Squired to Baron Master Sir Jamal Damian Marcus, is a member of Her Excellencies Altavian Baronial Guard, and is a member of the Altavian High Road. He regularly attends the Baronial council meetings, and is an active member of the Barony. Because of this service he has received many awards; The Order of the Dolphin, The Order of the Harp Argent, The Order of the Crescent Sword, The Order of the Gauntlet, and the Legion of Courtesy. He was deeply honored to receive the Vert Fret at the last Altavia Anniversary celebration in recognition of his prowess on the fighting field.
Thorin is a Viking thegn in the very late 10th century, hailing from Dublin, Ireland. As a huskarl he traveled to Byzantium where he became a member of the famed Varangian Guard. After his service ended he moved to the Danelaw with his family, where they are enjoying moderate success as merchant traders. When he is not on the field fighting, he spends his time being a merchant/trader, teaching, making useful things, repairing armor and enjoying events with his family/household.

The Honorable Lady Courtney of the White Meadow attended her first SCA event, Festival of the Rose for Isabel in 1985.
While living in Darach, she started going to fighting practice in Altavia. As Courtney's skill increased with lots and lots of practice, she became the first fighter that all the new fighters fought. This was to help them get basic skills and confidence.
The first war Courtney attended was Lake Isabella Aug/Sept of 1985, where she volunteered as a water bearer. At court on Saturday she met a handsome young squire named Thorin from Atenveldt. A relationship bloomed. She went to the Estrella War I to be with Lord Thorin. Shortly after Thorin moved to Caid to be with Courtney. They where married Oct. 1, 1988. In May of 1991 Courtney Autocrated the Equestrian portion of Altavia Anniversary/Make-a-Wish Tourney and received her AoA at closing Court. Due to real life she and Thorin took a break for the SCA for many years. She and Thorin still managed to make it to most Altavia events, Estrella and Great Western Wars during that time.
The draw of the SCA was very strong after Kora was born in 2000 and Courtney and Thorin started seriously playing again, with Courtney apprenticing to Mistress Flavia at Great Western War in 2004 to learn the art of dyeing. As she started to play more, Courtney realized that the whole dream is much more fun the more you put into it. So that is what has happened.
Courtney has been fortunate to be on two Royal Courts and one Baronial Court. She was for a short time the Minister of Children for Altavia and then changed to the Arts and Science's Minister when it was realized that that office being filled had the greater need.
Courtney enjoys doing many of the Arts. This includes spinning, both on a wheel and with a drop spindle, card weaving, embroidering simple decorations on garb and lampworking glass beads. She also enjoys sewing, making almost all the garb for herself, her Husband Thorin and Daughter Kora.
She has entered one Pentathalon and many A & S competitions and has received several awards and accolades for her dyeing, card weaving and lampworked beads.
Courtney is a late 10th century English noble born lady who was kidnapped by Vikings on her way to France. Fell in love with one of her captors and married him. Currently the family lives in the Danelaw, where she is the help mate to her husband a successful craftsman/trader.

BRIEF PERSONAL HISTORY
The Honorable Lord Thorin O'Seaghda has been active in the SCA since May of 1982. For his first four years in the society, he lived in the kingdom of Atenveldt where he began to learn armored combat with a group of newcomers. He became a charter member in a newly formed mercenary company and tentatively embraced the idea of giving back to the Society by autocrating his first event. He was given his Award of Arms shortly before he left the kingdom to move to Caid.
