Unto Their Excellencies, Laertes McBride and Bridget MacKenzie, Baron and Baroness of Altavia, do we send our warmest greetings,
The Honorable Lord Thorin O'Seaghda and his ladywife, The Honorable Lady Courtney of the White Meadow, do humbly offer ourselves as candidates to be your successors. We do so after much careful consideration of the requirements for your successors as set forth in your Announcement letter. We hope that you, Their Majesties, and most especially the Populous of Altavia might find us to be suitable replacements as the guides of the Barony after you step down. To assist you in your decision, we will detail our qualifications along with our personae, awards and history within the SCA, along with our plans for the continued growth of the Barony. We will strive to honor your leadership by continuing to make this Barony a fun and active place for the populace to share The Dream.
During your years of gentle leadership we enjoyed watching you both govern with a kind, respectful hand. Your example of welcoming all with open arms into a fun atmosphere continues to promote the Barony's reputation as a fun, energetic has attracted many active members from beyond its physical borders. Your devotion to supporting all interests within the society has been a source of inspiration to us and we would hope to continue on in this same spirit; guiding gently, maintaining the Baronial tradition of Fun and Welcome.
If we should be selected, our initial efforts would be to concentrate upon two areas of importance to the Barony. We would concentrate on filling the vacancies within the Baronial Council. The officers perform the bulk of the work within the Barony and as such are its backbone. Filling these open positions will be the highest priority for us. We would want to encourage the current officers to remain in their offices, sharing with us their knowledge and experience while maintaining the high state of efficiency that they have brought to the Barony. Additionally we would request that they help us to find those of the populace who would be well-matched to these vacant positions.
The second area we would like to address is the matter of the storage of the Baronial Regalia. We would help the Barony select a trailer within which all of the Regalia could be safely stored and transported. This would allow easier access to those items that need to be maintained or repaired by keeping everything in one location that is easily moved to where the work needs to be performed and does not place an undue burden on anyone's personal storage space.
We have conversed with each other at length about the responsibilities and commitments we will have to make if we are chosen to become your heirs. We will both strive to uphold the standards that have been set by your Excellencies and carry out the required duties. Should another couple be selected as our heirs, we would give them the same support and help that we currently offer you.
