"A Winter's Evening of Warmth and Light"

The Barony of Altavia welcomes the good gentles of Caid to "A Winter Evening's of Warmth and Light." Join us for an evening of food and fun as we enjoy the warmth, and light of our SCA family and friends.

To share the warmth and light ... we'll be hosting a Toys for Tots collection. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to light up a child's face.

Food: Dinner is potluck, each person should bring a dish to serve at least 8. Please include an ingredient list for those with food allergies.

Mundane last name starts with ... potluck dish suggestion
    A-E     Salads or Breads
    F-J      Side dish
    K-P     Dessert
    Q-Z     Main Dish

We'll have contests for best Main Dish, Side Dish, and Dessert. Ingredients list is required for contest entries.

Fun:

We'll have crafts for the kids, and board games for us all. If you have a favorite game, bring it on!

Contests: A Festive Garb contest, and a Table Decorating contest: Best use of candles and gold and/or silver. (Note: Site rules are that candles must be enclosed and must be 2 inches lower than the top of the enclosure.)

After dinner ... DANCING! The Talented Lady Meliora Deverel is our dance mistress. She can be contacted at dance@sca-altavia.org. We'll have plenty of space and time to lead the dancers through many merry steps, as well as for the non-dancers to game and visit.

Raffle: We're having a basket raffle! Already promised themed baskets: A Fiberholic Dream from Lady Courtney, Cross stitch haven, a painted silk fan promissory from Mistress Bridget, with more to come! Contact Dame Lynnette de Sandoval at to donate single items or themed baskets with your name displayed on the donation.

Site and Directions:

Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City, 12355 Moorpark Street,Studio City, California 91604.

Take your favorite route to the 101 and exit Laurel Canyon (east of the 405, west of the 5 and170).
Turn south onto Laurel Canyon, then turn right (west) at Moorpark.
The church is on the right (north) side of Moorpark, five blocks west of Laurel Canyon.
There is a small church parking lot, and street parking on Moorpark.

This is a WET site; please consume responsibly!

The church grounds are non-smoking; please smoke on the sidewalk or in the alley.

Site Fee: $6.00 for ages 4 and above, an additional $3.00 non-member surcharge applies. Children 3 and under are guests of the Barony. Make checks payable to: "SCA, Inc./Barony of Altavia."
