There are many offices in the barony that are needed to keep the barony functioning. Below is a list of the various offices and who holds the job. If their name is underlined, you can write to them directly via e-mail.

Our Seneschal is THL Reymund of Salisbury The Seneschal is in charge of the day-to-day business of keeping the barony going. | ||

Our Captain of Archers office is Lord James Everglad The Captain of Archers organizes practices and archery-related activities. He maintains and transports the baronial archery equipment. | ||

Our Arts and Sciences Officer is THL Mouren Muir Arts and Sciences are just what they sound like. The line between what is an "art" and what is a "science" is often blurred, hence one person organizes workshops in both areas, and helps people find others to help them in specific areas of interest. | ||

Our Chatelaine (Newcomers) office is vacant The Chatelaine is the person who helps Newcomers. If you are newly joining the SCA, or just visiting an event because the pavilions caught your eye as you drove past the park, this is the person who will answer your questions. And if they can't, they'll help you find someone who can. Write here for help and information. | ||

Our Children's Minister is Lady Fara Of Altavia The Children's Officer works with the children and Youth of the Barony. Activities are usually provided for a short time at every event that the Barony hosts. | ||

Our Chirurgeon is Lord Caine Dorcha The Chirurgeon is responsible for first aid at our events, if that need should arise. | ||

Our Chronicler is Lord Secca of Cantia The Chronicler is responsible for the publications of the group. The Barony of Altavia issues a free newsletter called "Fret Knot" four times per year, which is distributed to all members of the SCA who live within the Barony. If you would like a complimentary copy, contact the Chronicler. Please contact the chronicler for directions on submissions. | ||
| Our Constable is Lord Uilliam of Altavia The Constable is the police officer of the group. He collects Lost and Found items, and he helps you if there is a crowd control or area perimeter management issue. | ||

Our Exchequer is Master Timotheus Zacharia von Zwilling Schloss The Exchequer is in charge of the moneys raised by the group. This can be money people pay to attend events or money donated by the good of one's heart. She is responsible for paying money out to cover the legitimate expenses of the group (such as paying for the site to have an event at). | ||

Our Herald (Sable Fret Cornet) is Lord Damien von Baden The Cornet (or Herald) announces things at court, introduces fights on the field, and helps you develop a name and device. In the SCA, we use names that could have existed in Medieval or Renaissance times and create devices that can be used to identify us by picture, much like a coat of arms. | ||

Our Lists Officer is Mistress Therese of the White Griffin The Lists Officer is the person who organizes the individual fights during the course of a tourney by determining who fights whom and tracking the winners and losers of each bout. | ||

Our Marshal is Lord Lord Sigvald Hauksen The Marshal is in charge of running fighting activities at events. Often they will also run a practice so that people can fight on a regular basis somewhere close to home. If she/he doesn't run a practice, she/he will know who does and where to find it. She/He may not participate in all forms of fighting recognized in the SCA, but if you want to learn something she/he is not familiar with, she/he can help you find someone who is. Fighting in the SCA falls into 4 major categories: Heavy weapons (using rattan swords, armour and shields),"light weapons" Rapier (fencing); Archery and Equestrian. | ||

Our Scribe office is vacant
The Scribe serves the barony by creating scrolls (or other fancy written things) at the request usually of the Baron and Baroness. Scrolls are often presented at court with gifts so that the recipient knows who to thank for the items presented. Also, the baronial scribe will hold workshops on calligraphy and illumination and how to create a scroll. | ||

The barony has a e-mail mailing list that you can subscribe to. The purpose of this list is to allow us to communicate with each other.
The Kingdom of Caid has an e-mail mailing list that you can subscribe to. The purpose of this list is to allow members to the Kingdom to post questions, comments and discussion of interest within the Kingdom.
There is a general discussion newsgroup for the SCA commonly called the Rialto, available at "rec.org.sca". A digest version of the newsgroup is available for people who don't have access to news readers or who wish to get the postings sent directly to them. There is a FAQ available for the Rialto, to provide more information about this newsgroup.
